Contemporary Watercolor & Acrylic Artist

I’m Nick Horvath, a painter based in Princeton, New Jersey. When I was four years old I was drawing lobsters while the kids around me were still working on stick figures. I knew early on that art was my thing, and I’ve been creating ever since.

I work in watercolor and acrylic, and I’m in love with color. My paintings are bold, energetic and sensual: nude and figurative studies, abstract drip and gold-leaf pieces, colorful skulls and expressive portraits. The colors in each piece set the mood and carry the meaning.

In 1999 I went to the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where I placed first in the annual SVA Painting Competition for my class and was awarded a Fine Arts Scholarship. That confirmed what I was meant to do.

Painting is a passion. I get a high from evoking emotion in a painting, and surprising myself is the best feeling in the world. My work has found homes with collectors across North America, Europe and Asia, and every new connection makes me want to keep painting every day.
